Small Drums
All small drums are made from naturally hollowed-out maple trees that I find on my property while harvesting firewood. Drum heads are rawhide deer skin, sun tanned and tied with salvage cordage.

Maple steam bent hoop with stretched deer hide drum head tied with salvage cordage.

Wood Spirit Drums
Using the natural features of the wood that I find, these drums are all unique. Intricately carved, these drums can have faces, birds, trees, hunting scenes or whatever the wood dictates. The drum head is stretched, suntanned deer hide and tied with salvage cordage.
$1000 - $2500
Depends on intricacy of carving
Bones
“Bones,” (first three sets from the left) are hand-carved mahogany or moose bone. They are used similarly to spoons for rhythm in folk music.
“Fiddlesticks,” which are in the lower right corner, are made from the penis bones of a black bear. They are used for playing rhythm on a fiddle while the fiddler plays.
